Objectives
  • to improve the framework conditions for forwarding sales and the logistic services of European rail freight transport

  • to represent the interests of rail forwarders and of the rail as a transport system at the European level

Strategic focus
  • to influence decisions of European transport policies
  • to support a harmonised liberalisation of the rail freight transport market throughout Europe
  • to promote uniform, competitive framework conditions for the rail as a transport system
  • to enhance rail freight transport
  • to promote measures aimed at maintaining or developing access points to the rail network (publicly accessible tracks, loading platforms)
  • to create an information platform for European rail freight transport
  • to cooperate with other organisations and and associations with similar goals
  • to strengthen the IBS position through forceful lobbying work

Member base throughout Europe
  • Active members:
    rail forwarding companies concentrating on rail freight transport

  • Associated members:
    further market players and parties interested in European rail freight transport

Administration
  • voluntary work
  • financing through membership fees
