 | IBS pursues a transport policy goal formulated a long time ago that needs to be achieved today more urgently than ever before, for environmental protection and energy olicy reasons: More goods onto rail - throughout Europe! Practice and academiaare called upon by IBS to contribute to a greater shift of goods to the rail through new, intelligent, innovative and future-oriented logistic solutions in rail freight transport. The „IBS Rail Logistic Prize" will be awarded for a new logistic solution actually implemented in the practice, as in the four years before. Forthermore, the „IBS Rail Academic Prize" is going to be awarded for the first time - and this for a new theoretica approach to shifting transports onto the rail.

This is where multimodal transport offers the more efficient and at the same time more environmentally friendly strategy for using the existing infrastructure". This is how Jörg Hennerkes, State Secretary at the Federal Transport Ministry, introduced the awarding of the IBS "RAIL-LOGISTIC" 2007 Prize of the Interessengemeinschaft der Bahnspediteure (IBS) e. V. The IBS Prize was awarded during the "transport logistic" in Munich, at the CTL Logistics GmbH stall, on the 12th June 2007. The First Prize, worth EUR 5000, went to Railion Deutschland AG. The Railport concept was selected as a "practicable logistical solution for shifting road transports to the rail with a focus on conventional freight consignments on the basis of individual wagons or groups of wagons”. Railports are transhipment facilities with which the shipper and recipient may be connected to the rail network also without a direct rail link. The Second Prize, worth EUR 3,000, went to AWILOG-Transport GmbH. The Jury selected their concept of a raw materials block train for the foundry industry. With the help of this concept, some 800 t of raw materials have been delivered for daily production from Monday to Friday since May 2005. EUR 2,000 and thus the Third Prize went to CTL Logistics GmbH for an innovative solution of transporting cement between Poland and a construction site at Leipzig Airport. This is how 65,000 t of cement have been transported from a Polish manufacturer over a distance of 680 km on rail, which has led to a relief of the road system amounting to 53 truck runs every day.
