 | The Development of railway transportation in Europe 1. Railway transportation in Europe
- Insufficient political conditions for buliding up a competitive railway transportation system in Europe.
- Missing specific regulations for the liberized european railway transportation.
- Disadvantages in the competitive position because of unequal expenses between the different traffic systems to the detriment of the railway system are reduced too slow and too uneffective.

 | First IBS Certificate issued |

 | The „Interessengemeinschaft der Bahnspediteure (IBS) e. V." (Community of Interest of Railway Forwarding Agents) issued the IBS Q1 Quality Certificate for especially efficient and qulified rail forwarders for the first time on 8 May 2008
Following a comprehensive procedure of certification, IBS Chairman Olaf Krüger, was able to hand over the certificate to the TRANSPETROL GmbH company in Hamburg. Based on the ISO Certification 9001, this certificate guarantees to the customer reliable, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly logistic services, primarily availing of the rail as a mode of transport. The certification was conducted on the basis of an examination catalogue for all relevant rail-forwarding procedures, which was prepared jointly by IBS and the TÜV Rheinland (Association for Technical Inspection). Independent examiners analyse, for instance, the standardisation of all procedures, an efficient organisation of interfaces with rail transport as well as cost optimisation through speedy circulation of transport equipment and the highest return load potential possible. At the same time, the issuing of the certificate depends on a working IT-system, with the greatest possible transparency for the transport customer, comprehensive further training of management and staff on the subject of rail forwarding as well as on risk minimisation with the pertaining insurance coverage. The environmentally friendly organisation of the rail forwarding business is a vital prerequisite for issuing this certificate, attention is focused, for instance, on a high bundling effect in order to optimise energy requirements as well as to reduce CO2 emission by the rail transport organisations used. IBS would like to congratulate TRANSPETROL GmbH on the successful obtainment of this certificate. Further applications for certification have already been submitted to IBS. | | | |
