Like little other areas of business forwarding agencies demonstrate a high degree of creativity and pure entrepreneurship. They have to prove their competitive position every day. New markets and permenantly changing general conditions require a lot of flexibility, personal willingess and financal ability of every single person. Well known forwarding agents, who are directly or indirectly concerned with transportation via railway, founded the “Interessengemeinschaft der Bahnspeditionen” (IBS; comunity of interest of railway forwarding agents) in 1996. The founders of the IBS had a specified target – they wanted to create and influence the economical and political processes around them. The expansion of the European Union and the following process of globalization had effects on all areas of business, including forwarding agencies. Companies have to accomodate to the market to meet the requirements of the new economic area. Surrounded by the challenges of our internationalized world we have to find an answer to the one, maybe decisive question: How can a company comply with this new conditions without loosing its competitive position? How can a company handle the fact that the general conditions vary from country to country while unitary regulations have to be found? | ||

| Global markets demand global communication – with this portal, the IBS rapidly increases the contemporary and fast exchange of information between its members and all interested persons and companys – in Europe or anywhere else. | IBS decided to donate two prizes that are to be awarded within the framework of „transport logistic" in Munich next year (12 to 15 May). The [b)„IBS Rail Logistic Prize" will be awardet for a new logistic solution actually implemented in the practice,as in the four year before. Furthermore, the „IBS Rail Academic Prize" is going to be awarded for the first time - an this for a new theoretical approach to shifting transports onto the rail.
